I Dream About Grapes - What Does It Mean?

Posted on July 16, 2008 by Hye

Grapes Dream MeaningLast night, I dreamed about grapes - a lot of grapes hanging on a vineyard. Because of curiosity, I made a research on what does it mean "dreaming about grapes" and here's what I found:

- To eat grapes in your dream, you will be hardened with many cares; but if you only see them hanging in profuseness among the leaves, you will soon attain to eminent positions and will be able to impart happiness to others. For a young woman, this dream is one of bright promise. She will have her most ardent wish gratified. - Source: 10000 Dream Interpretations, by Gustavus Hindman Miller

Check out the sentence in bold - it is exactly as my dream was. It said "you will soon attain eminent positions and will be able to impart happiness to others" Is this for real? Just wondering...

Check out the italized sentence, it said my most ardent wish will soon be gratified. I am still wondering what that wish was... if it will come true, the question is "When?"

Do you believe in this interpretation? What do you think?

Follow Your Passion: Do Something You Love!

Posted on December 3, 2007 by Hye

Earlier June this year, I was thinking of quitting my job because I was quite fed up with the things happening in our office. Sorry, I can't disclose them here :D

During those days, I read an article titled "Stop doing stuff you’re not passionate about", or something like that. I can't remember the exact title of the article, or even the writer! But I am so sure that the idea of the article is to stop doing things I am not passionate about and start doing the things I love.

I agreed with the author. Life is just to short just to waste it doing the things I don't love. I should waste my time to the things I wanted and loved. That way, I won't have any regrets in the future.

I followed his recommendation. I quit my job and re-considered another better opportunity. I am too glad I listened to him. Now, I know something better is waiting ahead of me. I no longer feel stuck, bored, and demoralized. It is a great feeling knowing your passion and doing what you really love.

I guess the lesson here is that "If you’re not excited about what you do for a job - change it as soon as you can. Take that first step, whatever it is, towards doing something you love." :D

Practice Before Your Job Interview

Posted on November 20, 2007 by Hye

"Practice makes perfect"

I used to hear this from my parents, friends, and school teachers. I still hear this until now, especially when I do something I am not used to.

I remember when I had my first job interview. My friends keep on reminding me that I should keep on practicing in front of a mirror, pretending as if my reflection was my interviewer. I did, and it helped me a lot to be composed and confident during the real interview.

Practice makes perfect indeed.

Here are several pointers I can share on how to practice before your job interview, which really helped me. Hope they will worked for you, too. These tips were actually intended for my sister, but I decided posting it here hoping that someone who is afraid of job interviews may happen to read this post ;D

1. If you're nervous about speaking up, practice with good friends, with a family member, or in front of a mirror.
2. While practicing, don't twirl your hair, bite your nails, or rock back and forth. Sit back straight. Relax.
3. Try to be professional and serious while having your practice. Pretend that it was a real interview and observe yourself.
4. If you practice with a friend or a family member, ask them your points of improvement, and then work it out.
5. Watch the local news and observe how the anchor talks. Try to imitate her or him, but not too hard.

Most importantly, while having your "real" interview, remember these:

1. Before entering the room, breathe deeply. Relax.
2. Look the interviewer in the eye.
3. Hold your head up with confidence.
4. Avoid mumbling and saying "um" and "uh" when you speak.
5. When you state your answer or opinion, speak clearly, calmly, and confidently.

Good Luck!

Don't Waste Time Waiting For a Perfect Job

Posted on November 17, 2007 by Hye

Yesterday, my sister and I had a conversation about her "future" job. She asked my opinion on what job best suits her. As her elder sister, I said "It's up to you. Go for something you are passionate about. Go for something that will make you happy".

My sister answered back "Maybe I will just wait for a perfect job for me."

Her reply really hit me. I wonder how many people around the world thinks like her, believing that a perfect job is worth waiting. How many of them believe that a great opportunity will come for them, not the other way around.

Again, I answered back "You should not be waiting for a perfect job. Instead, you should be searching for it. You will never know that it's the perfect job for you, unless you already got it."

I don't know if my sister was enlightened with these words. I am hoping so.

Maybe some will argue that they became successful because a great chance knocks by their door while they were waiting for it. Well, I say, they must be lucky. Very, very lucky. But life is not only about luck. Not everyone is fortunate like them.

I am not saying that we should not wait for a perfect job because I believe that a perfect job will come to us on its perfect time. Sometimes, it will just knock on your door while you are not expecting it. But it seldom does. My point is, instead of waiting for a perfect job to come for you, then why not go out and search for what's best for you. Maybe the great job is waiting for you.

Remember, life is too short and time is gold. Don't waste your life and time for waiting. Instead, use them to explore.
