The End Does Not Justify The Mean, What Does It Mean?

Posted on August 31, 2008 by Hye

The End Does Not Justify The MeanWhat does the quote "The end does not justify the mean" exactly mean?

The first time I heard the statement above, I wasn't exactly sure what it really means. Honestly. Our instructor wrote those words in the blackboard during our class and asked us, his students, the meaning. I was so glad he did not ask me directly, because if he did, I swear I would stammer and remain silent.

Our instructor gave us an example. I can't remember the exact words, but the idea was like this: John has a very sick daughter, but due to lack of money, the hospital won't admit his daughter. To get the necessary money, his only choice is to rob a bank. In this case, does the end (to save his daughter) justify the means (to rob a bank)?

If you were in my position that time, how are you going to answer? Do you agree that it is not always right to do something wrong to get to something right?

Are You Considering A Tummy Tuck?

Posted on August 28, 2008 by Hye

Nowadays, a lot of people are conscious with their health and figure, specifically girls both single and married. Some of you reading this post may agree while some may not. Regardless, I still think ladies love to look sexy and gorgeous, not only in the eyes of their man, but also in the eyes of the people who sees them. Isn’t it true that most physically fit people are more confident? Thus more and more people from different walks of life are looking forward on the different ways on how to be sexy.

Actually, there are a lot of methods to have a sexy body. Exercise, proper diet, and even sports are some of them. However, the only setback with the procedures mentioned is that it takes months or even years to see results. If you are a type of person who wants to be sexy the soonest possible time, then you should consider a means called surgical operation.

If you want to have a sexy abs, tummy tuck or abdominoplasty is the answer. To tell you the truth, I haven't tried this service yet but some people I know already did and are very satisfied with the results. It may be pricey, but it shows a guaranteed satisfactory results.

If you are from Beverly Hills or Los Angeles and is considering a tummy tuck, you should check out a site called RodeoDriveTummyTuck.com as they specializes in the said procedure. Aside from tummy tuck, other services they offer include liposuction, breast augmentation, and more. Just visit their website for more information. In case you are hesitant with their services, you can read the testimonials coming from their satisfied customers. For your questions and other inquiries, you can read their Frequently Asked Questions area or contat their customer service through phone or email.

Will You Still Trust Someone Who Lied To You Before?

Posted on August 22, 2008 by Hye

Will You Still Trust Someone Who Lied To You Before?I am sure all of us already lied to someone we loved or even to our enemies. That's life... I think lying is human nature. We lie to protect the truth. We lie to protect those people involved... etc. Remember my post about white lies?

If you deny and tell me you haven't lied before, then you are lying.

Anyway, I would like to ask you - yes, you (the one reading this) - if you will still trust the one who lied to you before? If yes, will that trust the same as before or will it ever change?

08 08 08 - Is August 8 2008 A Lucky Day?

Posted on August 8, 2008 by Hye

08 08 08 - Is August 8 2008 A Lucky Day?08/08/08, 080808, 888,8 8 8, 8/8/08, 8808, 8 8 08... These are just some of the combination of today's date - August 8 , 2008.

Many people are saying that today is a lucky day thus a lot chose this date as their wedding day, business opening day, etc. Well, the question is - is 080808 really a lucky day?

Eight to the Chinese culture is a very lucky number. However, August is a ghost month. According to an article I read somewhere, this day is not lucky. This day should not be celebrated for a special occasion like wedding. However, it's an ideal day to pray and enjoy sports - that's the reason the 2008 Summer Olympics was set on 08/08/08.

In my opinion, I think it doesn't matter if today is lucky or not. What matters is "It's up to us how we live our life". If you think today is lucky, then so be it. If not, then go on.

What do you think?

What Does Being A True Leader Means?

Posted on August 4, 2008 by Hye

What Does Being A True Leader Means? To some people, leadership means power and respect. To some, including me, it means responsibility. To you, what does being a leader mean?

Sometimes, there is a misconception that when you are a leader to a certain body or team, you have the power and will gain respect from your subordinates. It is not only visible in public bodies, like our government, it also exists in private companies. For example, some people wanted to be the president - of the country or of a company - just to enjoy these benefits, without really knowing what being a "true" leader means.

I remember some of my officemates in a call center I used to work. Some of them are too thirsty of power that whenever there is a vacancy for a higher position, they apply even though they don't comply with the requirements. Well, I am not discouraging anyone for moving forward. But my point here is that "You should know you are ready to take the higher step because that step requires bigger responsibility."

I know it feels good to be the leader because you'll feel you are higher, respected, bowed, powerful, etc... but isn't it better if you are respected because you are the leader by it's true meaning - not just by word?

Being a leader does not mean blaming your subordinates for the mistakes and faults that happen within your team or taking credits for your own. Being a true leader means being responsible to face blames and give credits to the whole as part of the team. Being a true leader means knowing how to care your team and how to fight for them no matter what.

Now, are you a leader too? How would you describe yourself as a leader?

Do You Blame Others For Your Own Fault?

Posted on August 1, 2008 by Hye

Do You Blame Other People?Have you ever blamed other people - say your little sister/brother or your friend - for faults you know you are the one responsible of? To simplify, did you ever blame others for your own fault?.. at least for once.

Okay, stop denying. Be honest. Don't say no because I won't believe you. If you say no, there is no one you are fooling around except yourself. It's only you who knows yourself well.

I did. Being the eldest daughter, I used to blame my 2-year younger sister for faults I know "it's my own fault". That was when I was young - about ten year old or younger. Now, whenever I remember those times, my guilt always strike back. What was I thinking that time?

Maybe I was afraid for the punishment... maybe I was scared for the consequences... or maybe I was just irresponsible. But in the end, our dad punished me by spanking my butt (hehehe) - even though I blamed my sister. Did my father know it was actually my fault?

Over time, I realized that when you blame other people - or literally point your index finger to someone - your four fingers are pointing back to you. So there's no point of blaming. The lesson: Admit your own fault. Face consequences. Be responsible.
